What is Academic learning support?
Academic Learning Mentors provide tailored, one-to-one support for apprentices with additional learning needs. We are dedicated to helping neurodiverse individuals and those facing challenges due to long-term medical conditions or mental health difficulties.
We work closely with your education provider to deliver person centred support and ensure you can unlock your full potential and achieve your long term goals.
What is the role of the Academic Learning Mentor?
Mentors focus on developing the skills, strategies, and confidence learners need to thrive academically and emotionally. This includes support with:
- Time management and organisation
- Exam and assessment preparation
- Independent study techniques
- Effective use of assistive technology
- Managing study-related stress and anxiety
- Building emotional resilience and self-awareness

Academic Learning Mentors go beyond educational support; we nurture the learner. By fostering independence and encouraging self-advocacy, we empower individuals to take charge of their learning journey and personal development.
While we don’t offer subject-specific tuition (this remains the responsibility of your training or education provider), our mentors play a key role in helping learners overcome challenges related to learning differences or disabilities. Each mentoring session is carefully tailored to meet individual needs, ensuring a personalised and meaningful experience.
